CEO Video Series – Shanghai Business Forum 2025

Across the world, hydrogen is scaling up but nowhere is this progress more visible than in China. Earlier this year, the Hydrogen Council convened in Shanghai for our inaugural Business Forum, where we saw firsthand the rapid pace of development across China’s hydrogen ecosystem.

What is happening in China?

  • USD 33 billion in committed clean hydrogen investment in China by 2030 – the highest globally.
  • A fast-advancing technology landscape, with China leading on committed renewable hydrogen capacity at 19 GW (1.6 mtpa) – approximately 55% of global renewable hydrogen capacity
  • Clear policy direction, a strong local supply chain, and growing offtake are reinforcing China’s role as a major force in the global hydrogen sector.

In our latest video, hear what our members have to say about hydrogen’s rapid growth in China.

With thanks to Kim Hedegaard CEO, Power-to-X, Topsoe; Sarath Prasannan, Senior Vice President, Everllence; Alessandro Bresciani, SVP Climate Tech Solution, Baker Hughes; Audrey Ma, Executive Director of the Board and VP of International Business, REFIRE.
