FT: Ölpreisschock lässt Interesse an sauberem Wasserstoff neu aufleben

“Hydrogen is not only a way to decarbonize, but also a key element to ensure energy security.”

Speaking to the Financial Times as we launched Globaler Wasserstoffkompass 2026, our Co-Chair Francois Jackow, CEO von Air Liquide, discussed how recent energy market disruption is sharpening the case for hydrogen – not only as a tool for decarbonisation, but for greater energy security and resilience.

Just two months of the energy crisis triggered by the conflict in the Middle East have cost energy-importing countries in Asia and Europe more than USD 100 billion.

As François told the FT: “The few billions necessary to really accelerate the hydrogen ecosystem seem small compared with the overall cost whenever there’s a crisis.”

And industry leaders are seeing the strategic context shift: 64% of Hydrogen Council member CEOs surveyed for Compass said recent energy-market shocks had accelerated their interest in clean hydrogen.
