The Hydrogen Council launched on 17 January 2017 in Davos at the presence of CEOs, Chairmen, industry executives and VIP guests from the US, Asia and Europe.

The Romeo and Julieta room at the Belvedere Hotel in Davos was packed with high-profile industry and other stakeholders, with Dominic Waughray, Senior Director and Head of Environmental Initiatives of the World Economic Forumtestimonial moedrating the event. Testimonial speeches made by key industry names such as Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of Solar Impulse, Andy Marsh, CEO Plug Power and Takehiko Nagai, Director General of the European Office of the Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Organisation (NEDO) highlighted the complimentary relationship that hydrogen has with other alternative energy sources and the incredible potential of this technology that we have yet to fully realise.

Four FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) were brought to Davos for the occasion, displaying a very tangible example of one of the potential uses for hydrogen technology, amongst many others.

The launch was the first-ever CEO meeting at this level to discuss challenges and opportunities ahead for hydrogen technologies and generated an overwhelmingly positive response, with 360+ media articles and 5 million+ Twitter impressions for the #HydrogenCouncil hashtag alone.
