20+ associations endorse the Call-to-Action: Hydrogen for a resilient world

Last month, at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, we launched ‘Hydrogen for a resilient world’ – a CEO-led Call-to-Action urging governments to accelerate hydrogen deployment as a cornerstone of energy resilience, security and decarbonization. Since then, a coalition of over 20 national and regional hydrogen associations from around the world endorsed it.

As the world responds to growing energy security and climate challenges, electrification and hydrogen must work hand-in-hand to build cleaner, more resilient and cost-effective energy systems.

Earlier this month, Türkiye’s COP31 Presidency set a critical target: 35% electrification by 2035 to meet the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C limit. We welcome this important initiative and call on governments to embed hydrogen and its derivatives in their strategies as a complementary solution to drive faster and more cost-effective energy system change.

Two months of Middle East conflict have already cost importing countries in Europe and Asia over USD 100 billion. Energy systems dependent on narrow supply chains cannot withstand such shocks, and concentrated energy sources leave us exposed. Inaction is not an option.

Pairing direct electrification with hydrogen and its derivatives is a strategic opportunity to build a more resilient, diversified energy system in a rapidly-changing world.

Today, a coalition of national and regional hydrogen associations from around the world endorse the CEO-led Call-to-Action: Hydrogen for a resilient world, recently launched by Hydrogen Council. Over 20 associations have committed to these three urgent priorities:

1️⃣ Act now – embed hydrogen in emergency crisis response measures

2️⃣ Activate demand creation tools

3️⃣ Boost critical infrastructure investment

As a global industry, we stand ready to work with governments, lead through this pivotal moment of change, build up hydrogen as a strategic system enabler, and together deliver a more resilient world.
