“For large investments to happen, for momentum to build up, for the ecosystem to drive momentum and growth, you need one clear ingredient: policy certainty.”
That’s what 린데 Chairman and CEO 산지브 람바 says it takes to scale hydrogen – and at our Business Forum in India last week, dozens of companies from around the world echoed the same message: policy is the “make or break” factor.
Project developers want to understand the direction of travel, and to know it will hold for the long term, Oleksiy Tatarenko of RMI added.
“Confidence is the currency of the hydrogen economy,” said Abdulaziz Al Shidhani, Managing Director of 하이드롬.
Many are looking to Europe. “Many countries and regions take their lead from the EU policy and requirements,” added 비말 빔산, Vice President Asset Transformation at 사솔, while Nishaanth Balashanmugam, CEO GH2 India, urged European policymakers to “remind themselves why they began all of this work in the first place.”
The case is clear for Europe to stay the course and keep the binding RFNBO targets and mandates for transport and industry in the post-2030 framework – as our CEO 이바나 제멜코바 put it – giving industry clear, stable, practical policy that lasts, so it can do what it does best: build.
