Chez Topsoe, l\u2019un des principaux fournisseurs de solutions technologiques pour la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, l\u2019attention se porte de plus en plus sur une usine de cellules d\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse \u00e0 oxyde solide (SOEC) de pointe.<\/p><p>B\u00e9n\u00e9ficiant d&#039;une subvention de 94 millions d&#039;euros du Fonds d&#039;innovation de l&#039;Union europ\u00e9enne, l&#039;un des plus importants programmes de financement des technologies innovantes \u00e0 faible \u00e9mission de carbone, Topsoe s&#039;appr\u00eate \u00e0 mettre en service cette ann\u00e9e sa nouvelle usine de fabrication de SOEC \u00e0 Herning, au Danemark. La capacit\u00e9 initiale de l&#039;usine sera de 500 m\u00e9gawatts (MW) d&#039;unit\u00e9s SOEC, avec la possibilit\u00e9 d&#039;une extension ult\u00e9rieure. Il s&#039;agit de l&#039;un des plus gros investissements de l&#039;histoire de Topsoe.<\/p><p>Les \u00e9lectrolyseurs produisent de l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne en utilisant l&#039;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 pour s\u00e9parer les mol\u00e9cules d&#039;eau en hydrog\u00e8ne et en oxyg\u00e8ne. Lorsqu&#039;elle est aliment\u00e9e par de l&#039;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 renouvelable, l&#039;\u00e9lectrolyse permet de produire de l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 faibles \u00e9missions qui peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour d\u00e9carboner les industries \u00e0 forte intensit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique comme l&#039;acier, l&#039;exploitation mini\u00e8re et le transport longue distance, qui repr\u00e9sentent ensemble environ 30% d&#039;\u00e9missions mondiales de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre.<\/p><p>En effet, Topsoe s&#039;attend \u00e0 ce que l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne propre produit par ses \u00e9lectrolyseurs de Herning r\u00e9duise de plus de 40 millions de tonnes m\u00e9triques les \u00e9missions de CO<sub>2<\/sub>-\u00e9quivalent d&#039;\u00e9missions au cours des 10 premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es d&#039;exploitation par rapport \u00e0 l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne conventionnel produit \u00e0 partir de combustibles fossiles non r\u00e9duits. Cela \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 retirer plus de 950 000 voitures de la route chaque ann\u00e9e. Exploitant ce que Topsoe pr\u00e9voit devenir un march\u00e9 adressable de plusieurs gigawatts (GW), l&#039;usine SOEC signale une future \u00e9volutivit\u00e9 pour la production mondiale d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs.<\/p><p><strong>Innovation technique, perc\u00e9es technologiques<\/strong><\/p><p>L\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne peut \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 trois technologies principales : l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse par \u00e9lectrolyse sodique, l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse par membrane \u00e9changeuse de protons (PEM) ou l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse alcaline. L\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse sodique est la plus r\u00e9cente des trois technologies, n\u00e9cessitant des temp\u00e9ratures plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es et de la vapeur plut\u00f4t que de l\u2019eau liquide. Bien qu\u2019elle ait \u00e9t\u00e9 historiquement moins attrayante en raison de son co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9 par rapport \u00e0 la capacit\u00e9, elle fonctionne \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e et pr\u00e9sente donc une cin\u00e9tique plus rapide et une conductivit\u00e9 plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Cela signifie qu\u2019elle peut fonctionner \u00e0 une tension plus basse, r\u00e9duisant ainsi la consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie par rapport \u00e0 la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne \u2013 et donc produire plus d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne pour moins d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<\/p><p>En effet, Topsoe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topsoe.com\/our-resources\/knowledge\/our-products\/equipment\/soec\">technologie SOEC propri\u00e9taire de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration<\/a> Les \u00e9lectrolyseurs SOEC de Topsoe peuvent produire entre 20% et 30% d&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne de plus par unit\u00e9 d&#039;entr\u00e9e d&#039;\u00e9nergie que les technologies d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs classiques. Associ\u00e9s \u00e0 des technologies qui produisent de la chaleur r\u00e9siduelle, comme l&#039;ammoniac, le m\u00e9thanol ou la production d&#039;acier, les \u00e9lectrolyseurs SOEC de Topsoe peuvent atteindre le co\u00fbt actualis\u00e9 de l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne le plus bas du secteur, \u00e0 des volumes de l&#039;ordre du m\u00e9gawatt ou du gigawatt.<\/p><p>Cette \u00e9lectrolyse est donc particuli\u00e8rement adapt\u00e9e aux march\u00e9s de l&#039;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 prix \u00e9lev\u00e9 et \u00e0 la production de produits chimiques ou de carburants \u00e9lectroniques. Le premier client SOEC de Topsoe, First Ammonia, en est un parfait exemple. \u00c0 partir de 2025, l&#039;entreprise bas\u00e9e \u00e0 New York pr\u00e9voit de d\u00e9velopper des installations modulaires \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9chelle commerciale qui produiront de l&#039;ammoniac propre en utilisant la technologie SOEC de Topsoe.<\/p><p>Pour d\u00e9velopper sa technologie SOEC, Topsoe devait repousser les limites de la fabrication. C&#039;est exactement ce qu&#039;elle a fait au Danemark. L&#039;usine de Topsoe \u00e0 Herning, qui devrait \u00eatre op\u00e9rationnelle en 2024, emploiera directement environ 150 personnes et cr\u00e9era de nombreuses opportunit\u00e9s d&#039;emploi indirectes gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa cha\u00eene d&#039;approvisionnement, sa construction, sa maintenance, etc.<\/p><p>Premier projet de ce type, l&#039;installation a offert de nombreuses possibilit\u00e9s d&#039;apprentissage. Il peut \u00e9galement constituer une source polyvalente de carburants \u00e9lectroniques gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technologie de l&#039;entreprise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topsoe.com\/blog\/power-to-x-a-key-component-in-the-global-energy-transition?hsCtaTracking=cfa9141a-3498-4d8e-a447-964114ea13fa%7Ccbfe38c5-5b20-4ede-878f-8fc34d216632\">Processus Power-to-X<\/a>, o\u00f9 l&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne propre constitue une mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re ou un carburant direct pour les vecteurs \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques, la production de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res, etc. Les applications vont de la production d&#039;acier et de ciment \u00e0 l&#039;ammoniac, \u00e0 l&#039;eM\u00e9thanol ou m\u00eame au carburant d&#039;aviation durable.<\/p><p>Les r\u00e9gulateurs ont beaucoup \u00e0 gagner du succ\u00e8s de Topsoe. L&#039;usine de Herning soutient la proposition de la Commission europ\u00e9enne de d\u00e9ployer 40 GW d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs \u00e0 travers l&#039;Europe d&#039;ici 2030 et participe \u00e0 son <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/priorities-2019-2024\/european-green-deal\/green-deal-industrial-plan\/net-zero-industry-act_en\">Loi sur l\u2019industrie \u00e0 bilan carbone nul<\/a>, qui d\u00e9signe les technologies d\u2019\u00e9lectrolyseurs comme l\u2019une des huit technologies strat\u00e9giques \u00e0 z\u00e9ro \u00e9mission nette qui peuvent acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer l\u2019action climatique et la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 de l\u2019industrie.<\/p><p>Alors que la demande augmente, Herning entrevoit le potentiel d&#039;une augmentation. Topsoe a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topsoe.com\/press-releases\/topsoe-abb-and-fluor-form-alliance-to-develop-standardized-concept-for-soec-electrolyzer-factory\">a form\u00e9 une alliance avec ABB et Fluor<\/a>, leaders en \u00e9lectrification et automatisation (ABB) et en ing\u00e9nierie et construction (Fluor), pour concevoir un concept standardis\u00e9 pour les installations de fabrication d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs, en commen\u00e7ant par son <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topsoe.com\/press-releases\/topsoe-announces-plans-for-new-state-of-the-art-us-electrolyzer-factory-for-clean-hydrogen\">plans r\u00e9cemment annonc\u00e9s<\/a> pour construire une nouvelle usine SOEC de 14 milliards de dollars am\u00e9ricains dans l&#039;\u00c9tat am\u00e9ricain de Virginie. L&#039;exp\u00e9rience acquise \u00e0 Herning profitera \u00e0 l&#039;usine de Virginie, tout comme un concept standardis\u00e9 et de nouvelles efficacit\u00e9s int\u00e9gr\u00e9es.<\/p><p>Topsoe pr\u00e9voit d&#039;explorer de nouveaux partenariats et mod\u00e8les commerciaux en commen\u00e7ant par les installations danoises et am\u00e9ricaines, de r\u00e9unir des pionniers et de former de nouvelles coalitions tourn\u00e9es vers l&#039;avenir. Avec des march\u00e9s adressables en Australie, en Europe et en Am\u00e9rique du Nord, il est essentiel d&#039;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la production d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs, d&#039;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer le rythme d&#039;ach\u00e8vement des projets et d&#039;obtenir une clart\u00e9 r\u00e9glementaire.<\/p><p><strong>Les le\u00e7ons apprises pour l&#039;avenir<\/strong><\/p><p>Afin de s&#039;aligner sur les objectifs climatiques de l&#039;UE et de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande croissante des consommateurs, la nouvelle usine d&#039;\u00e9lectrolyseurs SOEC de Topsoe marque une avanc\u00e9e majeure dans la voie vers une \u00e9nergie durable. La production de tels \u00e9lectrolyseurs \u00e0 haut rendement constitue un exemple mondial du type de production d&#039;hydrog\u00e8ne qui peut faire bouger les choses.<\/p><p>Pour Topsoe, il ne s&#039;agit pas seulement de d\u00e9velopper la technologie SOEC et de construire ces usines.
