Suiso significa hidr\u00f3geno en japon\u00e9s.\u00a0<\/p><p>El viaje de Suiso Frontier de m\u00e1s de 9.000 km fue parte de un proyecto piloto (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hystra.or.jp\/en\/project\/\">HESC: Proyecto de cadena de suministro de energ\u00eda de hidr\u00f3geno<\/a><sup>1<\/sup>) por un consorcio de empresas japonesas y australianas y respaldado por sus gobiernos para transportar hidr\u00f3geno producido y licuado en Australia a Jap\u00f3n a escala. El objetivo era demostrar la viabilidad t\u00e9cnica de una cadena de suministro de hidr\u00f3geno internacional de este tipo y apuntar a la comercializaci\u00f3n a principios de la d\u00e9cada de 2030.<\/p><p>La construcci\u00f3n del barco se complet\u00f3 en 2020, se dise\u00f1\u00f3 y construy\u00f3 utilizando el conocimiento t\u00e9cnico de Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Kawasaki), miembro fundador del Consejo de Hidr\u00f3geno. El presidente de Kawasaki, Yoshinori Kanehana, es actualmente copresidente del Consejo.<\/p><p>Los esfuerzos de Kawasaki en la industria del hidr\u00f3geno comenzaron en 2010. Se pueden transportar alrededor de 75 toneladas de hidr\u00f3geno licuado en un viaje.<\/p><p>Para transportar de forma estable hidr\u00f3geno licuado criog\u00e9nico, manteniendo la temperatura durante el viaje, el tanque de carga adopta una estructura de doble pared aislada al vac\u00edo. Las tecnolog\u00edas para el alto rendimiento del aislamiento t\u00e9rmico se basan en las d\u00e9cadas de historia de Kawasaki en el transporte mar\u00edtimo de gas natural licuado, as\u00ed como en m\u00e1s de 30 a\u00f1os de experiencia en el manejo de hidr\u00f3geno licuado criog\u00e9nico como combustible para cohetes.<\/p><p>El hidr\u00f3geno es una importaci\u00f3n atractiva para pa\u00edses como Jap\u00f3n que buscan la descarbonizaci\u00f3n pero carecen de los recursos renovables necesarios para ser autosuficientes.\u00a0<\/p><p>Si bien el primer objetivo es que Jap\u00f3n logre la seguridad energ\u00e9tica, Nishimura cree que el hidr\u00f3geno tambi\u00e9n es una opci\u00f3n prometedora para los vecinos de Jap\u00f3n debido a sus altas densidades de consumo de energ\u00eda.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cCorea, Taiw\u00e1n, Tailandia y la costa de China ahora usan gas natural licuado, pero apuntan a cero emisiones de carbono para mediados de siglo\u201d, dice Nishimura. \u201cNos gustar\u00eda contribuir a la descarbonizaci\u00f3n de estos pa\u00edses y de Jap\u00f3n\u201d.<\/p><p>El exitoso viaje de regreso de Suiso Frontier es un hito importante en el camino hacia el establecimiento de cadenas de suministro comercialmente viables para el mercado del hidr\u00f3geno, que se espera que se expanda en el futuro.<\/p><p>&quot;Ya est\u00e1 en marcha la siguiente fase del proyecto para construir un transportador de hidr\u00f3geno licuado a escala comercial para mediados de la d\u00e9cada de 2020, con el objetivo de comercializarse a principios de la d\u00e9cada de 2030&quot;, explica Nishimura.
