Hydrogen and its derivatives are increasingly being viewed through the lens of energy security and competitiveness, alongside decarbonisation, as recent disruption in the Middle East puts renewed focus on the resilience of global energy systems.
Speaking to Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, following the launch of Brújula Global del Hidrógeno 2026, Hydrogen Council CEO Ivana Jemelkova discussed how recent energy-market shocks are reshaping strategic priorities for governments and industry.
“The lesson here is that long-term resilience needs a structural shift,” Ivana told Platts, pointing to the more than USD 100 billion cost borne by energy-importing countries in Asia and Europe during just two months of the recent crisis.
