Hydrogen Council Executive Director steps down to focus on health

Hydrogen Council Executive Director Daryl Wilson was diagnosed with leukemia in August. He is stepping down to focus on treatment and recovery.

September 15, 2023In August, our Executive Director Daryl Wilson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Daryl is receiving outstanding treatment in Canada and the prognosis by his medical team is 90% confidence of being in remission in 30-60 days. Given the intensity of the treatment and to focus on his recovery, Daryl has made the difficult yet heartfelt decision to step down from his role.

Throughout Daryl’s tenure, the Hydrogen Council has witnessed remarkable growth and celebrated numerous milestones. We extend our deepest gratitude for Daryl’s unwavering dedication and contributions. As he sets out on his path to recovery, we send our warmest wishes and support his way.

Hydrogen Council Co-Chairs Yoshinori Kanehana, Chairman of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and Sanjiv Lamba, CEO of Linde plc, shared the following good wishes for Daryl:

“Amidst the rapid expansion of the hydrogen industry in recent years, the Hydrogen Council, under Daryl’s leadership, has equally witnessed impressive growth. As Daryl embarks on a journey of recovery, our sincerest well wishes accompany him,” said Yoshinori Kanehana.

“News of Daryl’s pending departure weighs heavily upon the Council – one that will be keenly felt as a great loss. We wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with Daryl and his family,” said Sanjiv Lamba.

The Hydrogen Council has taken the necessary steps to ensure continuity of services and operations in this transition. As our Board works through the succession process, the good work of the Council is in the capable hands of Steven Libbrecht as Interim Executive Director and Daria Nochevnik will serve as the Council’s primary external spokesperson.

A global search for a new Executive Director is now underway. Qualified applicants are invited to apply via confidential@hydrogencouncil.com.
